Hi everybody!!
I'm here to post exciting news! I'm in a show right now!
What is the show you may ask? I'll tell you, it's called "Forts"!
"Forts, you say?" "Yes, Forts!"
"What's 'Forts'?" "Glad you asked!"
"Forts" is a show that I'm doing for the second year in a row with Filament Theatre. It's best described as an immersive experience for families, where we fill our theatre space with loads of boxes and the audience has full reign to play, build, and create in the space. Actors cast in the show (that's where I come in) are Adventure Guides, and we use theatrical elements to help facilitate and support creative play.
It may sound unusual, but it is one of the most magical theatrical experiences I've ever had! It's the coolest job in the world, so I jumped at the chance to do this again this year!
AND, there is one VERY exciting difference between this year and last year's show! This year, we are beginning our run at Writers Theatre, which The Wall Street Journal named "America's finest regional theater company". You can check out their website and Filament's to learn more about the work we're doing with "Forts":
In other work news, I'm still working on the Front of House staff at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. We're about to start our second show of the season "Twelfth Night". And, I'm back to teaching for Northlight Theatre! I'm teaching a class called "Build a Play" at Greeley Elementary School.
Thank you all for your continued support!
Erika, this is amazing. I love the concept of incorporating play in theater to help kids learn.
